The XI FIP World Polo Championship is finally on in Richmond and environs, and promises a multifaceted festival program from 21–29 October.
This event goes beyond a world-class sporting event. While the on-field competition will be fierce, the all-encompassing Polo Championship will include an equine festival for all ages, with a rodeo, jousting, show jumping, vaulting, art exhibitions and world-class dining experiences just a few of the many kinds of entertainment on offer.
To round out the program, the World Polo Championship will host a variety of child friendly events, including face painting, rides and a petting zoo, to create a special experience for the whole family.

Celebrity chef involvement
Chefs Luke Mangan and Adriano Zumbo have been engaged to bring fine dining experiences to the World Polo Championship festival.
Adriano Zumbo is one of Australia’s most celebrated patissiers. His swiftly expanding empire began in 2007 with his Balmain shop front, where sugared-up locals couldn’t get enough of his pastries. An appearance on the first series of MasterChef Australia helped introduce the croquembouche to an even wider audience and made Adriano — and macarons — a household name.
Luke Mangan is one of Australia's leading chefs and restaurateurs, and is highly regarded internationally as a shining example of Australia's culinary culture. Luke currently owns and operates 19 restaurants in the air, aboard ships at sea and on shore in five countries. Among his many achievements, Luke has written five bestselling cookbooks, launched his own range of gourmet products and organic baby food, and co-founded Australia’s Appetite for Excellence, a hospitality awards program developing the career of young chefs.

Equine education centre
The Equine Education Centre is a live facility providing information that will be delivered over the main tournament days at the XI FIP World Polo Championship 2017. The educational content has been developed to provide insights into equine activities in Australia, and the centre will provide a platform to hear from professionals, experts and organisations who are leaders in the sport.

Pony Club Championship Games 2017
Hosted at Sydney Polo Club, the Pony Club Championship Games will be coordinated by local committee group Zone 26 Pony Club NSW.
Taking place on Sunday, 22 October, during the Family Day activities, the event gives children the opportunity to participate in a fun, safe and friendly equine competition. The Pony Club Championship Games will welcome 10 teams to enter the competition. This will encourage local teams and pony clubs to take part and enjoy the fun and success as part of the equestrian competition. The event will commence at 9am and will terminate at 3pm with an official awards ceremony for the overall champions.

XI FIP World Polo Championship art exhibition
Taking place from the 21st to the 29th of October, the Art Exhibition and competition will take place in conjunction with the World Polo Championship 2017. Australian artists are asked to submit entries for the exhibition, which will encompass a diverse range of artistic approaches, materials and practices including both outdoor and indoor sculpture, and a variety of two-dimensional works.
Prizes to the value of $14,000 will be up for grabs, from a first prize of $7,000 to a fourth place win of $500.
This exhibition will showcase the exquisite work of established and emerging Australian artists. Audiences will wander through a diverse range of artistic approaches and materials on the beautiful grounds of the prestigious Sydney Polo Club. A variety of sculptural forms and two-dimensional works will be exhibited indoors, and an outdoor space will see large sculptures transform the landscape into an open air gallery.
The exhibition will be curated by Selina Hitches, who brings a wealth of knowledge to this exhibition, both as a local in the Hawkesbury and as a nationally recognised artist.

World Polo Championship Schools Art Competition
This competition will provide local school students with an opportunity to display their works in conjunction with the internationally renowned event of the XI FIP World Polo Championship 2017.
Artworks will be judged on their creativity and uniqueness, and how well the themes of “Australia” and/or “Polo” have been portrayed and incorporated into the artwork.
Entries open on Tuesday, 13 June 2017, close on Friday, 25 August 2017, and will be judged by Charles Billich, and two more art experts.
