Doreen Slinkard with Stuart Thompson

Over 120 locals and interstate guests attended to offer their support and enthusiasm to Doreen, including Joan and Stuart Thompson with his equine mate Digger, and cover model Adam Tolhurst, a champion polo player.
For the Love of Patrick is the first book in an Australian family trilogy by Doreen, which is set near the turn of the 20th century in 1889. A forced abandonment by his mother sees Patrick raised by nuns and the girls of a privileged orphanage. His unusual upbringing, along with the story of his mother’s survival and many humorous characters tie this story into a can’t-put-down read, taking readers halfway round the world and ending with the Battle of Beersheba.
Doreen thanks her agent, Michael Cybulski, for signing a deal with Austin Macaulay UK Publishers. She will make a trip to the UK in May to promote her novel, and to search for the ghosts of her forefathers.
