In most cases, cleaning ears can be performed successfully without a full anaesthetic, though some owners may require a tranquilliser for themselves. Titbits of food used as an incentive to ensure the dog accepts the task can greatly assist in getting your dog’s co-operation, or at least distracting the animal from something it may perceive as unpleasant.
